Spring wildfire season begins in Kentucky

As the first day of spring wildfire hazard season winds down, fire officials remind residents about outdoor burning restrictions.

Kentucky Spring Wildfire Hazard Season is from February 15 to April 30. During this time outdoor burning can only be done between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Burning is prohibited within 150 feet of brush or woodland. State forestry officials say they respond to nearly 1000 wildfires every year with 99% caused by people.
