A 13-week-old puppy was stolen from the Petland store in Fenton earlier this week. Police are now searching for two women believed to be involved.
Petland Fenton store officials tell FOX 2 that the puppy was stolen Wednesday afternoon from the store, located at 516 Old Smizer Mill Road.
According to store officials, surveillance video shows two women with a baby who asked to visit with a Bichapoo puppy. The women were allowed to visit the puppy in an enclosed socialization room.
Around 12 minutes later, according to the store, video shows the women leaving with the puppy’s head peeping out of a large purse.
According to store officials, one dark-haired woman interacted with a staff member and appeared to be on lookout as an acquaintance, a red-haired woman with a purse, left the socialization room and walked out of the store.
The puppy, whose name was not provided, is an apricot shade of white and believed to be small.
The St. Louis County Police Department’s Fenton precinct is investigating the matter.
