Four people have died and one is hospitalized after leading deputies on an early morning car chase in Madera County.
Deputies were called to the area of El Vado Drive and Avenue 18 1/2 just after 1:00 am Sunday morning regarding people breaking into vehicles.
When deputies arrived, a vehicle matching the description given by callers left the scene at high speeds.
Deputies pursued the suspects until the driver of the suspected vehicle lost control and crashed near Avenue 17 and Highway 99.
Four of the five of the suspects were found dead at the scene. The remaining suspect was taken to the hospital by helicopter in critical condition.
The Sherriff’s office has confirmed with Action news that the pursuit suspects were between the ages 13 and 25 but have not been identified.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the vehicle burglaries.
