Trump has been candid about his goal for the U.S. to achieve full «ownership» of Greenland, a self-governing territory of Denmark
Amid President Donald Trump’s threats to acquire Greenland by force, Denmark’s tourism organization is sending a message to visitors from the U.S. — though it may not be what they expect.
According to Afar, VisitDenmark shared a warm message for U.S. travelers in a recent email that was sent to around 6,000 U.S.-based travel agents and tour operators.
«First and foremost, travelers are welcome in Denmark,» the Jan. 26 email read. «At this time, there is no indication that the situation has affected travel safety, visitor experience, or tourism operations in Denmark. This is based on our regular conversations with the travel industry and recent travel reporting.»
The tourism board’s email also acknowledged the tensions between the U.S. and Denmark, as Trump has continuously made threats against the self-governing territory.
“While some American travelers have asked whether they remain welcome, the answer is a clear yes,” the email stated.
