They’re off! Dozens of cardboard sleds race down snowy hill Tyler Euchner

Warmer temperatures mean more people are spending their day outside. However, it would seem some folks are missing the cold and spent their day sledding down Cone Park in makeshift sleds.

40 plus kids attended the River-Cade’s Homemade Cardboard Sled Race today.

However, the event isn’t just about sledding, the kids are judged based on their creative designs for the sleds. Once that was over it’s to the top of Cone Parks Hill where folks aged 4 and up race each other to the bottom.

However, the weather left many sleds struggling to take off.

“It’s pretty wet and so the sleds won’t go quite as fast, but a lot of them don’t anyway because cardboard is kind of hard to get to go too fast,” said Tom Padgett, a member of the River-Cade Board of Directors.

This marked the 23rd year of the cardboard sled races and if this looked fun you could build your own box sled and race it down the hill next year.
