Neighbors in shock after hours long standoff in NW OKC

Oklahoma City Police and a SWAT team surrounded a home near the Northwest Expressway and Council Road, where a man barricaded himself inside for hours with three children inside.

“Then all of the sudden SWAT shows up, and SWAT was in our backyard,” said Erin Fast, a neighbor.

Homeowners were forced to stay inside for hours during the tense standoff.

“We don’t feel quite as safe as usual,” said Allison Pickens, a neighbor.

“I was really scared,” said Fast. “I was telling my children to stay away from the windows, stay away from the doors, you know, and just let them do their thing.”

Police say the man was inside the home when he assaulted a woman. She made it outside and called the police, saying he was possibly armed and not letting her back inside.

Barricaded inside the home with him were three children.

“I was thinking that I hope the children are safe,” said Fast. “That was my first priority. I hope his children are safe and that they didn’t see all of this going on.”
