Aerospace Lubricants announces Columbus manufacturing expansion

A Columbus-founded manufacturer of synthetic lubricants is expanding its local operation with a $5 million investment and additional hiring.

Aerospace Lubricants announced on Jan. 28 it will invest more than $5 million to modernize its facility at 1600 Georgesville Road, according to a release from the Columbus Partnership. The company will retain 37 positions and add 15 new jobs. The new positions will focus on advanced manufacturing with annual average wages of roughly $92,000. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.175% six year job creation tax credit for the project.

«This investment allows us to add new production capabilities and continue innovating from our Columbus headquarters,» company President Dave Meyer said in the release. «We’re excited to grow where our company was built and where we’ve found strong partners and a skilled workforce.»

The family-owned company was founded in 1973 and produces lubricants used in automotive, aerospace and industrial applications.

«Aerospace Lubricants’ newest investment to expand operations in Columbus is a testament to how our region continues to deliver the workforce, infrastructure and industry support for advanced manufacturing,» Jason Hall, CEO of the Columbus Partnership, said in a release. «As a critical supplier in the aerospace and defense industries, Aerospace Lubricants’ newest investment comes at an exciting time as those industries continue to cluster here in our region as well.»

Hiring for the new positions is expected to begin early this year.

The Aerospace project was one of six projects awarded state incentives on Jan. 28. The projects in total will bring more than $56 million in investment and create 348 jobs.
