Love is in the air this weekend in San Antonio, but locals might have to endure a few traffic-related headaches due to construction-causing closures on major highways and roadways in the area.
The latest road closures will be on and around Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 in San Antonio as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) ongoing Loop 1604 North Expansion Project. There will also be a weekend-long closure at the intersection of I-10 and La Cantera Parkway.
The bulk of the disruption will begin today, Friday, February 13, at 9 p.m. and will run nightly through Monday, February 16, at 5 a.m., weather permitting. This means parts of 1604 and I-10 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Friday through Monday, according to a release from TxDOT. However, the La Cantera Intersection will be closed nightly from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday through Monday.
The closures are needed for bridge construction. Law enforcement will direct traffic as needed during this time.
Nightly closures on Loop 1604 in San Antonio starting within hours
The following sections of Loop 1604 will be closed nightly starting at 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday:
Loop 1604 East frontage road alternating closure from the exit ramp to Valero Way to the I-10 East frontage road
Loop 1604 East frontage road at the interchange
Loop 1604 West frontage road (left lane) at the interchange
