St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chester will host their second Mardi Bras event at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12. The public is invited to attend wearing Mardi Gras colors: purple, green and gold. Guests will enjoy food and fun festivities, while they support a good cause.
«We’re ladies helping ladies. Come for food, fun and fellowship,» Tamara Evans, chairman of the outreach committee, said. «We will be collecting new bras, underwear and feminine products for women who are in shelters, incarcerated, homeless, or have restricted incomes.»
«In New Orleans, Mardi Gras is famous for women baring their breasts for beads. In Richmond, we’ve flipped that tradition on its head. Instead of revealing breasts, we’re coming together to make sure they’re covered,» Marti Williams, Into The Neighborhood founder, said.
