Your Stevens Point-area voters guide for the Feb. 17 primary election

STEVENS POINT – Here’s your guide to races in the Feb. 17 primary election in the Stevens Point area. The polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Some Stevens Point and Portage County voters will see a primary election in their districts on Tuesday to help set the ballot for the April 7 spring election. Only voters in Stevens Point’s District 10, or the city’s southernmost district near Church Street, and Portage County District 25, or the northeast corner of the county, will find ballots waiting for them at their regular polling location.

Here’s the list of primary races for Stevens Point-area voters:

Stevens Point Common Council, District 10

Voters in District 10, or the section of the city near the south end of Church Street and along the western bank of the Plover River, will choose the top two out of three candidates for Common Council to appear on the spring ballot. Stevens Point Common Council members serve two-year terms and the five even-numbered seats out of 11 total seats are up for election in 2026. District 10 alderperson Dustin Buse filed a declaration of noncandidacy in this race.

Portage County Board, District 25

Voters in District 25, or the villages of Rosholt and Nelsonville and the towns of Alban, New Hope, and a portion of the town of Amherst, will choose the top two out of three candidates for County Board supervisor to appear on the spring ballot. Portage County Board members serve two-year terms and all 25 seats are up for election in 2026. District 25 supervisor and Portage County Board Chairperson Ray Reser filed a declaration of noncandidacy in this race as he pursues election to the Portage County executive office in April.
